Leadership Giving

Welcome Leadership Donors

The Wilmington College Leadership Giving program is a donor recognition program in which membership is based on the total of an individual’s personal gifts and corporate matching gifts during a single fiscal year. Wilmington College is grateful for gifts of all amounts. With an eye to the future, we hope you will consider a gift at one of our special gift circles. By placing Wilmington College as a top priority in your charitable giving, you are making a tangible investment in the future of the College and its students.

Student Reflection

Dillon Davidson

If it weren’t for the grants and scholarships that I received from the College, I wouldn’t be here and I don’t know what I would be doing. To be completely honest, I cannot see myself anywhere else but here, and it’s because of the great students, faculty, staff, and alumni that I am proud to shout in joy that “Wilmington College is my home!”

Gifts from Wilmington College alumni who graduated within the last 10 years—our young alumni—play a vital role in helping to shape the future direction of the College. We recognize that many of our young alumni wish to support their alma mater at a leadership level, but need a way to “step up” their giving shortly after graduation. By giving $100 for each year after graduation, you are able to enjoy the benefits of being a Leadership Donor immediately while you build your gift to the full $1,000 level at 10 years post graduation. (For example, an alumnus who is in their first year since graduation would need to make a $100 gift to be considered a Leadership Donor for that year while someone who was 5 years past graduation would need to make a $500 gift that year to be considered a Leadership Donor for that year.) Those generous young alumni who follow this gifting strategy gain membership as the prestigious First Decade Society Leaders.

When you become a First Decade Society Leader, you join a group of alumni who are ready to experience the next level of excellence at Wilmington College. Your generosity makes an impact on the lives of WC students and supports the success of our College for years to come.

Your membership as a First Decade Society Leader places you in a circle of like-minded visionaries, allowing you to network, socialize, and build relationships with current campus leadership that can help guide your path to becoming a leader in the next generation. Meet fellow alumni who can help you identify, refine, and achieve your career goals.

As a First Decade Society Leader you will receive multiple exclusive benefits. These benefits place you in the elite company of our most loyal and prominent alumni:

– Dedicated Wilmington College contact to act as a campus liaison who can answer questions about your giving and what’s happening on campus

– Invitation for you and a guest to the annual Philanthropic Leaders’ Dinner with the President.

– Recognition in the Wilmington College Honor Roll of Donors online

– Recognition on the Wilmington College donor recognition walls on main campus and in the Presidential Office Suite

– Early access to frequently sold out alumni events

– Invitation to First Decade Society Leaders’ networking and social events

Leadership gifts have an enormous impact on the success of the Parent and Grandparent Fund. The Parent and Grandparent Leadership Council (PGLC) includes parents and grandparents who make leadership level gifts to the Parents Fund. PGLC members will be included in the Wilmington College Honor Roll of Donors (displayed on main campus, in the Presidential Office Suite, and online), invited to the Philanthropic Leadership Dinner, and invited to attend a special reception with campus leaders over Family Weekend.

While PGLC members are in no way obligated to participate in these activities, for those who so choose, the Council also plays an important volunteer role. PGLC members advise the Development staff on fundraising and other engagement activities, encourage other families to support the Parents Fund through phone-outreach, support move-in day for freshman, and help host regional events for current and prospective students.

It is our pleasure to recognize donors at two levels of giving:

Parent or Grandparent of Current Student — Parents or grandparents of current students who give at the $500 level and above are automatically designated as members of The Parent and Grandparent Leadership Council.

Parent or Grandparent of an Alumnus — Parents or grandparents of WC Alumni who give at the $1,000 level and above are automatically designated as members of The Parent and Grandparent Leadership Council.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is the Purpose of the Leadership Giving Program?

The purpose of the Leadership Giving Program is twofold. First, it is to recognize those individuals who have made the conscious decision to make a leadership level gift to support the mission, vision, and future of Wilmington College. Second, it is to encourage supporters to make leadership level gifts and to increase their giving, as they are able.

Why Should I Increase My Gifts?

We ask that you consider giving to Wilmington College to the highest level you are able. Why? Because our students are counting on you! As the expense of providing a Wilmington College education continues to rise with the cost of living, we hope the size of your gifts will also increase. Your support has a direct impact on the future of the College and in the lives of our students. It’s by your generosity that we are able to provide an education that embodies our hallmark for “Hands-on Learning. Hands-on Living.” to each new generation of students.

Why Should I Become A Leadership Donor?

When you make a leadership level gift to WC you are joining an exclusive club of individuals who are assuming leadership roles in the College through philanthropy.
