Creative Presentation and Performance Certificate

Wilmington College's Creative Presentation and Performance Certificate is designed for students who want to drive engagement and captivate audiences through live and mediated practices. The goal of the certificate is to allow students to focus on the area of performance within their existing Theatre major/minor, or in addition to another major/minor. Students will gain knowledge in the realm of theatre with more flexibility and less time commitment than adding a major/minor. Through our experiential learning model, students will develop their craft and creativity in the realms of character development, script analysis, acting theories and techniques, voice and movement, improvisation, and audience connection.

Upon successful completion of the certificate, students will be able to: 

• Use the performer’s body, voice, and mind to create believable and multidimensional characters that help stories “come alive” for an audience. 
• Select a collection of warm up, improvisation, and de-roling exercises to assist with character creation and aide in the physical and emotional requirements of performance.
• Select a collection of warm up, improvisation, and de-roling exercises to assist with character creation and aide in the physical and emotional requirements of performance. 
• Describe how theatrical performance can be used to engage an audience for education, entertainment, information, or a call to action. 
• Analyze script or source material in an organized way to assess the creative performance needs. 
• Build and showcase a portfolio of diverse work in theatre performance. 

Requirements include: 

18 credit-hours of coursework 
A grade of C or better in each course 
Final portfolio presentation
