Food production in the 21st century has become both a science and a. social science with implications that resonate throughout American society, as well as the global economy and geopolitics. It even carries a logical relationship for war and peace. This concentration is a natural evolution of the College’s popular hands-on learning experience in teaching students how to lobby elected representatives in Washington, D.C., which expanded to offer additional trips focused exclusively on food policy and agriculture-related issues. Many students on the trips have felt emboldened and empowered by the realization that they can play a role with elected legislators, governmental staff and major stakeholders at the centers of power. The Food Policy & Agricultural Advocacy concentration expands their lobbying experience and knowledge of policy issues.
