PERSIST Initiative
Quaker Fusion
Quaker Fusion, formerly known as First Year Connections, has evolved into an academically focused program housed in the Student Success Center. Designed to support first-year students as they transition from high school to college, Quaker Fusion equips them with the skills and confidence needed to navigate their academic journey. No longer solely based in Residence Life, this program helps students smoothly transition between academic programs at Wilmington College, develop strong study habits, access valuable campus resources, and effectively plan their course schedules. With a focus on persistence, engagement, achievement, and success, Quaker Fusion empowers students to thrive in their college experience.

Peer Navigators: Your Guide to Success
Peer Navigators—affectionately known as Peer Navs—are experienced upper-level students dedicated to supporting the success and retention of first-year students. As trained peer mentors, they provide guidance, encouragement, and firsthand insight to help new students adjust to life at Wilmington College—both academically and socially.
Each first-year student is assigned a Peer Nav during orientation, ensuring they have a familiar and supportive guide from the very start of their college journey. Acting as relatable role models, Peer Navs assist students in overcoming challenges, building strong study habits, and making meaningful connections on campus. They also help students access the right resources when needed, ensuring a smooth transition into college life.
Through their mentorship, Peer Navs promotes persistence, engagement, achievement, and success, ensuring that every first-year student feels supported, connected, and ready to thrive at Wilmington College!

ENGAGE Initiative
Engagement: Quaker Up Experience
To enhance student engagement and promote a well-rounded campus experience, an engagement model leads to increased student retention and persistence to graduation. This model will include an engagement framework that intentionally connects the student experience to Wilmington College's values by identifying critical areas of student involvement, such as leadership, community service, and student organizations. A co-curricular transcript will provide students with a record of their non-academic achievements and experiences. An incentive program will further incentivize student engagement, recognizing and rewarding students actively participating in co-curricular activities.
