Transfer students are welcome at Wilmington College. We are committed to facilitating a smooth transition into Wilmington College and keeping you on track to complete your desired degree.
Once you provide us with a copy of your transcripts, we will prepare a tentative transfer evaluation that will show you how your transfer credits will apply to your Wilmington College degree requirements.
Five simple rules govern the transfer of credits:
- The transfer credit must be from a regionally accredited institution.
- The coursework must be at the 100-level or above/
- The grade for each course must be a “C-“ or higher.
- No more than 18 hours of technical credit can be transferred into Wilmington College.
- No more than 67 semester hours can be transferred into Wilmington College from a community college and no more than 97 semester hours can be transferred in from a 4-year institution.

Non-Traditional Acquisition of Credits
Adult and non-traditional students come to Wilmington College with a great deal of life experience. We value these experiences and accomplishments and will work with you to translated these experiences into academic credit whenever possible. The following are ways that students may earn credits for their prior learning experiences at Wilmington College:
CLEP EXAMINATIONS
The College Level Examination Program (CLEP) offers standardized college level general and subject exams. Academic credit for exams is awarded for minimum acceptable scores established by the American Council of Education.
Wilmington College is a CLEP testing site.
EXPERIENTIAL PORTFOLIO
Wilmington College recognizes that not all college-level learning takes place in the classroom. In addition to our liberal transfer credit policy from regionally-accredited institutions, we also provide the opportunity to earn college credit as appropriate for prior learning experiences, including on the job and volunteer experiences.

PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT/MILITARY EXPERIENCE
The National Program on Non-Collegiate Sponsored Instruction and the American Council on Education evaluate and make credit recommendations for education programs, seminars and courses, and military training. Wilmington College recognizes the value of these prior learning experiences by following the guidelines of these organizations to award academic credit.
