Winter Concert to Feature Choral and Instrumental Ensembles

Music

Wilmington College’s Chorale, Quaker Jazz and Symphonic Winds choral and instrumental groups will present a program of seasonal music at the Music Department’s annual Winter Concert on Tuesday (Dec. 3), at 7:30 p.m., in Hugh G. Heiland Theatre. The event is free of charge and open to the public.

The College Chorale, under the direction of Jimmy Wiederhold, will open the show with such Christmas favorites as “Peace on Earth, “ “The Little Drummer Boy,” “God Rest Ye Merry Gentlemen,” “Jingle Bells”  and “An Irving Berlin Christmas.”

Quaker Jazz, conducted by Evan Hatter, director of bands, will present pieces by jazz legends Thelonious Monk and Chet Baker, along with “Autumn Leaves” and “Jingle Jazz.” Symphonic Winds, also directed by Hatter, will conclude the program with a half dozen pieces, including “The Big East March,” “Candlelight Carol,” “Pageant” and “Christmas Music for Winds.”
