Kincaid, associate professor of mathematics, was asked by organizers to address the topic as Dayton joins Washington D.C. and scores of other cities throughout the United States in an event designed to address the “critical role” science plays in our lives. Kincaid, who has served on WC’s mathematics faculty since 2005, has a Bachelor of Science degree from Denison University and a Ph.D. from North Carolina State University.
According to its Website, the March for Science champions robustly funded and publicly communicated science as a pillar of human freedom and prosperity. It unites a diverse, nonpartisan group, which calls for science that upholds the common good, and urges that political leaders and policy makers enact evidence-based policies in the public interest.
March for Science is a “celebration of science.” It’s about the very real role that science plays in our lives and the need to respect and encourage research that provides insight into the world. The organization believes the nation is facing what it describes as the “alarming trend” toward discrediting scientific consensus and restricting scientific discovery.
