WC Hosting Summer College Immersion Experience for High School Students

ACCESS Program Runs June 27 through 29 High school juniors and seniors have an opportunity to be immersed in the college experience in a three-day summer program hosted June 27 through 29 at Wilmington College. WC’s ACCESS program (Academic College Campus Experience for Student Success) gives students a jump on attaining college preparatory skills that include an ACT prep and career assessment/exploring classes. Along with these activities, students will also experience sessions that focus on critical thinking, test-taking and study habits, College Life 101, diversity and other topics. “ACCESS is designed to be a microcosm of the college campus experience in the truest sense from start to finish,” said program director Chip Murdock, the College’s director of service and civic engagement. “After completing this program, high school juniors and seniors will have a better understanding of their strengths and the areas in need of improvement as they head down their path toward college and, ultimately, a career.” Student participants will spend two nights in campus housing, learn about the College’s facilities and engage with current WC students, faculty and administrators. The cost remains $175 and includes all meals, housing, a T-shirt, materials and program activities. The registration deadline is June 22.
