Group Receives Overwhelming Positive Support from Passing Motorists
A group comprised of Wilmington College students, alumni and local residents staged a vigil Thursday evening (June 16) in memory of the victims of the mass killing in Orlando, Fla., and in support of their friends and families.
They gathered at the corner of Main and College streets in an effort that coincided with vigils and other activities being held throughout the country in memory of the 49 Americans killed and 53 injured Sunday when a gunman sprayed Orlando’s Pulse gay night club with rounds from an assault rifle and handgun.
Persons at the two-hour vigil said they received overwhelming positive support from motorists passing by the entrance of the College. In fact, one car stopped and an occupant requested being photographed with the group.
