SOCHE Recognizes Three WC Employees with Excellence Awards

Three members of the Wilmington College faculty and staff earned recognition as SOCHE Excellence Award recipients for the 2024-25 academic year. The Strategic Ohio Council for Higher Education represents 18 area member institutions.

SOCHE announced Dr. Ursula McTaggart as the College’s recipient of the Faculty Excellence Award; Zachary Sizemore, Staff Excellence Award; and Briana Clark, Campus Impact Award.  McTaggart is a professor of English, while Sizemore is a systems technician in the Information Technology Department and Clark serves as associate athletic director.

Each school selected one Faculty Excellence Award winner based on demonstrated excellence in teaching, service and/or scholarship. Similarly, the schools each chose one Staff Excellence Award winner with special consideration of demonstrated excellence in student success, service and/or assessment. Finally, each college or university selected a winner for the Campus Impact Award with special consideration for performance that made a positive impact on the school or campus. This last category was open to faculty, staff or administrators.

SOCHE will recognize several award winners each month from June 2025 through April 2026 via SOCHE social media channels and on the SOCHE Excellence Awards webpage.

Formed in 1967, the Strategic Ohio Council for Higher Education is a consortium of 23 colleges and universities located throughout Ohio. SOCHE is the regional leader for higher education collaboration, engaging with colleges, universities and industry to transform the economy through the education and employment of nearly 200,000 students in southwest Ohio.
