Greek Man and Woman of the Year Awarded to Lauren Galloway Tylar Bailey
Wilmington College celebrated Greek life with its annual awards program Monday (April 10). Sigma Alpha sorority and FarmHouse fraternity garnered awards as Greek organizations of the year. They also won Creed Awards for expressly putting into action the values stated in their creed.

Lauren Galloway of Alpha Phi Kappa sorority and FarmHouse's Tylar Bailey received accolades as recipients of the Bud Lewis Senior Leadership Award for Greek man and woman of the year. Other nominees included Matthew Davis, Delta Theta Sigma; Lilly Frizzell, Gamma Beta Eta Lil Sis, A.J. Houseman, Kappa Delta; Owen Baumann, Lambda Chi Alpha; Mason Klamroth, Psi Beta Omega; Samantha Riggan, Sigma Alpha; and Trae Kluth, Tau Kapa Beta.
Greek organizations were judged on a point scale for excellence.
Green and White — the highest standard — went to Kappa Delta and Sigma Alpha sororities while those designated as achieving Gold Standard were Gamma Beta Eta Lil Sis sorority and FarmHouse, Lambda Chi Alpha and Tau Kappa Beta fraternities. The Bronze level was achieved by Alpha Phi Kappa, Delta Omega Theta, Psi Beta Omega, and Sigma Gamma Rho sororities, and Delta Theta Sigma and Sigma Zeta fraternities.
Hal Shunk, professor of art, earned recognition for his role of serving as faculty adviser to Greek Council during much of his 38-year tenure at the College. He is retiring this summer. Savannah Cool of Gamma Beta Eta Lil Sis received Greek Council's Outstanding Service Award for her role in the entity's public relations work.
Michael Allbright, director of Greek Life, lauded this year's Greek Council members: Mason Potter, president; Aubrey Schwartz, vice president; Aaron Pardo, secretary; Brandon Suever, treasurer; and Savannah Cool, public relations.
Selected as Greek advisers of the year were Dr. Chad McKay, associate professor of agriculture and department chair, adviser for Sigma Alpha sorority, and Daren Wright, assistant professor of equine business management, Delta Theta Sigma fraternity's adviser.
Mason Klamroth. of Tau Kappa Beta fraternity and A.J. Houseman of Kappa Delta sorority received Tara Lydy Service & Philanthropy Awards while the Outstanding New Member Awards went to Justin Beckner of FarmHouse and Kaylee Warfield of Sigma Alpha.
Lauren Galloway of Alpha Phi Kappa and Cody Everly of FarmHouse won the Outstanding Greek Athlete Awards.
Alpha Phi Kappa, Sigma Alpha and Sigma Zeta received Greek Excellence in New Membership Awards for successfully recruiting 10 or more new members.
Greeks combined for more than 4,900 hours of community service. The top organizations in this category that gave 25 or more hours of service per member were Delta Omega Theta, Sigma Alpha, Gamma Beta Eta Sigma Lil Sis, Sigma Gamma Rho, Psi Beta Omega and Tau Kappa Beta.
Greek Excellence Academic Honor Awards for having a cumulative grade point average above the non-Greek gender average for spring 2022 and/or fall 2022 were Alpha Phi Kappa, FarmHouse, Gamma Beta Eta Lil Sis, Lambda Chi Alpha, Sigma Alpha, Sigma Gamma Rho, Delta Theta Sigma, Tau Kappa Beta and Kappa Delta. Gamma Beta Eta Lil Sis accumulated 1,265 hours of service, averaging 72.3 hours per member.
Scholarship Awards (3.0 or better) for spring 2022 and/or fall 2022 also went to Alpha Phi Kappa, Delta Theta Sigma, FarmHouse, Gamma Beta Eta, Kappa Delta, Lambda Chi Alpha, Psi Beta Omega, Sigma Alpha, Gamma Beta Eta Lil Sis and Gamma Phi Gamma.
A whopping 236 students earned Greek Life Dean's List recognition (3.5 to 3.99 GPA) for spring 2022 and/or fall 2022, while 41 students received Greek Life Perfect 4.0 GPA recognition. The Greek Life Highest GPA Awards went to Sigma Alpha (3.61) and Lambda Chi Alpha (3.35) for spring 2022 and Sigma Alpha (3.62), Lambda Chi Alpha (3.44) and FarmHouse (3.44) for fall 2022.
