Robert J. Haskins Passes Away at Age 77

The Wilmington College campus was saddened to learn that Robert J. Haskins, emeritus professor of music, died at age 77 Friday (Sept. 25) after a period of declining health. "Jim" was a member of the music faculty at Wilmington College for 47 years,  from 1963 to 2009. His memorial service will be Saturday (Oct. 3), at 4 p.m., at First Christian Church, 120 Columbus Street in Wilmington. Visitation will be at the church from 2 p.m. on Saturday until services begin. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be directed to the First Christian Church of Disciples Organ Fund or the Wilmington College Music Department. Jim  was born December 27, 1937 in Denver, CO, son of the late Robert James Haskins Sr. and Marie Evelyn Benton Haskins. Surviving are wife, Elizabeth Anne Haskins, assistant professor of music, whom he married on June 23, 1973 in Chillicothe, OH; four sons, Robert Scott (Susan) Haskins of Greeley, CO, Raymond Charles Springfield of Denver, CO, Robert John (Jenna) Haskins of Oviedo, FL, and Christopher Thomas (Amber) Haskins of Zanesville, OH; seven grandchildren, Allie Jean Haskins, Charles Haskins, Melanie Marie Haskins, Kyle Haskins, Eric Haskins, Alex Justice Haskins, and Conner James Haskins; a sister, Kathleen Mashburn of Lynchburg, VA, half sister, Patricia (Lynn) Schott of Littleton, CO; and many nieces and nephews, and one great niece.
