Relay for Life Raises $8,600

Gamble to Move Annual Event from Early Spring to Fall Pays Off as Students Enjoy Summer Temps Wilmington College's Collegiate Relay for Life Saturday (Oct. 15) raised $8,645 for cancer research during the annual 12-hour event that is designed to raise generate funds and awareness. The course, which traversed the campus mall, passed numerous tents and shelters selling everything from cheeseburgers and homemade desserts to a celebrity dunking tank, water balloon throw and offering sledgehammer swings at a wrecked car. A constant throughout the day was WC housing administrator Michael Allbright achieving his goal of walking the distance of a marathon (26.2 miles).
