Paris Attacks Provide Backdrop for State Amnesty International Meeting at WC

Syria Refugee Expert Addresses 'Trojan Horse' Theory for Smuggling Terrorists The terrorist attacks on Paris were fresh on the minds of participants in Saturday’s (Nov. 14) statewide meeting of Amnesty International at Wilmington College. The event featured an interactive conference via Skype with AI’s Syria expert and a presentation on the Syrian refugee by WC Honors Program students Maraya Wahl and Stryker Stock. The meeting also included updates on refugee concerns worldwide, the death penalty in Ohio and a talk by Syrian-born Dr. Humam Akbik, a Cincinnati physician that has served on 13 medical missions in support of Syrian refugees.
