Lute Harmon Jr., publisher of OHIO magazine, lauded the Wilmington College group and all those other faculty members recognized from the state’s colleges and universities. “OHIO magazine is pleased to celebrate education and to honor those who are making a difference and contributing to Ohio’s commitment in achieving excellence in education,” he said. Erwin, who has been a member of the English faculty since 2013, has a Bachelor of Arts degree from Hamilton College, a Master of Arts from SUNY Binghamton and her Ph.D. from Indiana University. The director of WC’s Writing-in-the-Disciplines program teaches a diverse range of courses, but most enjoys working with at-risk writers. Erwin also is a member of the Peace Resource Center Advisory Board, co-adviser for the student group, SPECTRA, and she co-chairs the Ohio Medieval Colloquium. She is an active scholar who regularly publishes articles, presents at national conferences and has a book manuscript underway. Haskins, a WC alumnus with a Master of Music degree from Miami University, has been a member of the music faculty since 1978. She is the composer of more than 50 works. In addition to her teaching and composition work, Haskins is the longtime conductor and coach for two Wilmington College musical groups, the College-Community Chorus and the early music ensemble, Collegium Musicum. Haynes, who joined the faculty in 2013, has a Bachelor of Science degree from Morehead State University, a Master of Science from Western Kentucky University and her Ph.D. from Southern Illinois University. She teaches developmental and upper-division courses and is known for going the extra mile in assisting and encouraging her students. Co-director of the College’s Math Center, Haynes, who is currently recording clerk for the faculty, enjoys bringing students to math conferences. Wilkinson joined the English faculty in 2006 after earning a Bachelor of Arts degree from California State University, a Master of Arts from San Francisco State University and her Ph.D. from the University of California, Santa Barbara. Her background and training are in comparative literature, which provides the context for her teaching of general education survey courses that span a wide breadth of world literature throughout history. Her literary publications focus on the 19th century urban settings in works by such authors as Dostoevsky and Zola.
