Quaker Leadership Legacy Awards presented to student and fac/staff member
The conclusion of the academic year plays host to a series of well-deserved award presentations.
An entire evening's program highlights students' considerable achievements in academic and leadership pursuits at the Student Honors Convocation (April 25). Members of the faculty and staff also have their time in the sun at the Senior Brunch with the announcements of several awards voted on by the Student Government Assn.

Two long-standing honors are the Teaching Excellence and Van Black awards. The former recognizes professors whose academic involvement with students takes their learning to new levels. The Van Black Award originally was presented to mentors outside the Student Life area who enhance the student experience in capacities beyond their basic positions on the faculty or staff. It has evolved in recent years to also include Student Life personnel as eligible.
The College established a new vehicle for recognition, the Quaker Leadership Legacy Award. Named in honor of former WC president and first lady, Jim and Sue Reynolds, its recipients, a student and a faculty or staff member, exemplify the College's Quaker-inspired core values of community, integrity, excellence, diversity, peace and social justice, respect for all persons, and service and civic engagement. Initially known as the Reynolds Influence Award in 2021, last year's honors were conferred upon senior SGA president Ariana Riccardi and Chip Murdock, director of diversity + inclusion and the Center for Service and Civic Engagement.
