Music Department to Hold Annual Spring Concert April 26

College Chorale and College-Community Chorus to Perform Wilmington College’s Music Department will present its annual spring concert — “Spring Sing” — April 26, at 7:30 p.m., in Hugh G. Heiland Theatre. The event, which is free of charge, features the Wilmington College Chorale and College-Community Chorus. (LEFT) Elizabeth Haskins conducts the College-Community Chorus at its Winter Concert in December. The Chorale, which is under the direction of David White, will perform a variety of classical and popular selections, including “Flower Duet “ from Delibe’s opera Lakme, “Gia il sole dal Gange” by A. Scarlatti, “The Storm is Passing Over” and “I’m Gonna Wash that Man Right Outta My Hair” from the musical South Pacific by Rogers and Hammerstein. White also accompanies the group. The College-Community Chorus’ program is titled “Pete Seeger and Friends.” The group is under the direction of Elizabeth Haskins, assistant professor of music, and accompanied by Ellen Clapp. The repertoire includes the Pete Seeger classics  “Turn, Turn, Turn,” “Where Have All the Flowers Gone,” “Guantanamera,” “If I Had a Hammer” and “To My Old Brown Earth.” Other pieces are “Scarborough Fair” by Paul Simon and Bob Dylan’s “Blowin’ in the Wind,” the latter of which Haskins arranged for women’s trio and acoustic guitar.
