Early Music Ensemble Presenting 'If Musick Be the Food of Love'
Wilmington College’s early music performance ensemble, Collegium Musicum, will present its annual winter noon-hour benefit concert Thursday (Dec. 1), at noon, in Harcum Art Gallery, Boyd Cultural Arts Center.
(PICTURED) Collegium Musicum holds two, noon-hour mini-concerts each year near the conclusion of the fall and spring semesters.
The program, titled “If Musick Be the Food of Love,” features 16th century European dances, an early American hymn and Christmas music from England, Spain, Germany and Scandinavia. Elizabeth Haskins, assistant professor of music, directs the group.
The event’s title comes from William Shakespeare’s holiday comedy Twelfth Night.
The concert, which is free of charge, benefits the Clinton County Homeless Shelter and audience members are encouraged to bring donations of nonperishable food items, cleaning products, personal care items and paper products. A light lunch is available.
