Wilmington College named Earlham School of Religion graduate Noah Kellum as its next campus minister following a national search. He will succeed Nancy McCormick, who retired in June after serving the campus community for 10 years in that capacity.

Sigrid Solomon, vice president/chief student affairs officer, led the search to fill the mission-related position. She said the search committee and others involved with the interview process were impressed by Kellum’s background and passion for ministry that “aligns closely” with the College’s institutional values.

“Noah brings a wealth of experience in pastoral ministry, teaching, mentoring and leadership through service in Kenya, Tanzania and the United States,” Solomon said. “His work in higher education and intercultural ministry has strengthened his passion for walking alongside young adults as they discern their gifts, values and vocation.”

Most recently, Kellum served as a chaplain at a Level I trauma hospital in Ohio, where he provided spiritual and emotional care to patients, families and staff from diverse cultural, religious and social backgrounds. In that role, he responded to crises, offered grief support, facilitated difficult conversations and created spaces for hope, healing and reflection.

“These experiences have further developed his exceptional listening skills, emotional awareness and ability to care for others with compassion, dignity, and respect,’ she added, noting that, throughout the interview process, Kellum shared his desire to facilitate meetings for worship, mentor student leaders, support campus programming and contribute meaningfully to Wilmington College's spiritual life and mission. “We look forward to the many ways he will support our students and employees as they navigate faith, identity, purpose, relationships, and life's transitions while keeping our Quaker values at the center of his ministry.”
