College Recognizes Faculty and Staff for Service Milestones

21 Employees Contributed 255 Years of Service Twenty-one Wilmington College employees earned recognition for service duration totaling 255 years when the institution held its annual Opening Year Meeting Wednesday (Aug. 18) on the eve of the new academic year. President Trevor Bates and Provost Erika Goodwin lauded nine faculty members and 12 support and administrative staff for milestones of "dedicated service" to the College. Wynn Alexander, professor of theatre, has served on the faculty for 35 years, a period in which he also has held leadership positions in such critical areas as Commencement planning and continuing accreditation through the Higher Learning Commission. Alexander noted the "great joy" he takes in working toward the goal of making the College a better place. He noted his ongoing excitement he finds each August when the institution is on the threshold of the emerging semester. "What keeps me coming back each year is a new group of students starting their experience here — and waiting to see the 'a-ha' moments in their eyes." Recognized for 30 years of service were Dr. Dore Meinholtz, professor of chemistry, and Cheryl Louallen, director of Student One Stop, while those achieving the 25-year milestone were Dr. James FitzSimmons, professor of mathematics, and Dr. Terry Rupert, vice president for athletic administration, director of athletics and associate professor of sport management. Three were recognized for 15 years of service: Lee Bowman, cataloger/librarian; Tammi Carpenter, retention coordinator; and Dr. Marta Wilkinson Calderone, professor of English. Those in the group with five years of service included: Matthew Siders, plumbing assistant; Debra Arneson, academic records coordinator; Dr. Jane Bogan, associate professor of education; Dr. Anne Daniels, assistant professor of history; Dr. Evan Farr, assistant professor of humanities and global issues; Dr. Alan Ledford, assistant professor of sport sciences; Daniel McCamish, director of institutional effectiveness; Anita Stanley, graduate program coordinator; Vicki Baker-McFarlane, account resolution coordinator; Jenny Tower, senior admission counselor; Nancy McCormick, campus minister; Kazi McDowell, director of counseling; and Will Bradley, academic advising and financial aid with the Cincinnati Branch. With 48 years working at the College, Becky Haines continues to hold the distinction as the employee with the most years of service. She is technical director of fine arts.
