WC Contingent Larger Than Many Universities with Five-Figure Enrollments
An organization seeking to build transformational leaders in food and agriculture accepted 28 Wilmington College students to attend its annual Agriculture Future of America (AFA) conference in Kansas City in November.
Dr. Chad W. McKay, assistant professor, said attending the conference will provide the students with multifaceted benefits to their education and upcoming careers.
"This organization creates partnerships that identify, encourage and support outstanding college men and women and young professionals pursuing careers in the agriculture and food industry," he said. "Many students attend AFA and establish connections with individuals across the country. It opens many doors outside of what Wilmington College already provides them,"
A glance at the list of accepted students indicates the WC contingent is larger than the number selected from many large, national, land grant universities.
AFA claims to build bridges for young leaders to foster engagement and innovation in food and agriculture, as well as professionalism, intellectualism and "intrapreneurialism" through experiential opportunities. The organization endeavors to build leaders for the entire production chain.
The WC students include: Caia Albain, Mattie Butler, Lilly Frizzell, Emily Hoene, Brynn Pope, Mason Potter, Rylee Kay Puthoff, Megan Schwendeman, Morgan Thompson, Julia Bystrom, Fleischer Fleischer, Ian Gehret, Sarah Hess, Alexandrea M Yaekle, Taylor Ayars, Zach Deatley, Katie Easter, Hannah Houseknecht, Grace Smith, Madelyn Topp, Brodi Voight, Carley Asher, Caroline Liggett, Taylor Thomas, Kayla Wyse, Sawyer Starrett, Grace Dicke and Chyann Kendel.
