Equine Business Management

The Ohio Farm Bureau reports that equine is a $2.8 billion industry in the state, Nationally, it employs 1.6 million with full-time jobs. The Equine Business Management major offers core classes in both the Equine and Business areas. The foundation of coursework is centered on communication, science and business management as it pertains to the equine industry. Upon completing an Equine Business Management degree, students will have the knowledge and skill set to be competitive upon entering the workforce or the background to continue with specialized academic or vocational pursuits in the equine industry. Graduates of the program are prepared for careers in equine event management, equine nutrition, farm and ranch management or owning an equine-related business.

The Center was built on 40 acres of land donated by Elizabeth Williams and features a 72–by 328-foot barn with 24 horse stalls, paddocks, tack rooms and other equine amenities. The equestrian team competes at an adjacent outdoor arena and a 72-by-152-foot indoor arena with observation deck.

Hands-On In The Equine Center

Once you establish a direction for your career interest, we tailor your assignments, projects, research opportunities and internships to ensure you gain the specific knowledge and experience needed to succeed in the equine industry. These concepts learned in the classroom are further illustrated through opportunities for hands-on learning with horses in our Equine Center. The Equine Center features a 28-stall barn with both an indoor and outdoor arena and a heated classroom. You can even bring your own horse to college with you! Our students receive outstanding internships off-campus with world champion trainers, veterinary clinics and private equine centers.
