Auditions Planned for May 26, 27 and 28 at Heiland Theatre

Wilmington College-Community Summer Theatre will hold auditions for this summer’s production of SHREK the Musical, May 26, 27 and 28, at 7:15 p.m., at Hugh G. Heiland Theatre in Wilmington College’s Boyd Cultural Arts Center.

Auditions are for high school age and older. No advance preparation is required, as music will be taught and readings will be provided. Also, those auditioning should be prepared to dance.

SHREK the Musical will be performed July 16, 17, 18 and 19 under the direction of Dan Hunt, a Wilmington native and WC alumnus that has appeared in numerous shows at Wilmington High School, Wilmington College and with the College-Community Summer Theatre. He currently teaches and directs for the Theatre Dept. at Clark State Community College.

SHREK the Musical is a big undertaking and we want to see lots of folks audition,” Hunt said, noting they need to cast Shrek and his cohorts, his fairy tale misfits, a princess, Lord Farquaad and his gang. “It will be a fun audition.”

In addition to Hunt, the show staff also includes the longtime summer theatre staff of Wynn Alexander, Becky Haines, Matt Spradlin and Cole Haugh.
