Sexual Assault Awareness Month Activities Set for April 26

Students Ready to 'Take Back the Night' Wilmington College is holding an extravaganza of Sexual Assault Awareness Month activities Wednesday (April 26) to shine a light on this all-too-frequent crime. Wednesday has been declared “Denim Day” and all Wilmington College students, faculty and staff are encouraged to wear the popular faded, indigo, black or distressed fabric to show support for crime victims. Also, throughout the day, students will be encouraged to write or draw pictures featuring anti-violence slogans or other types of support for victims in colored chalk on sidewalks throughout Collett Mall. That evening, the College community will gather, at 6:30 p.m., outside on the steps of Hermann Court for a rally titled “Take Back the Night,” which is a national initiative to draw awareness to sexual assault. After some rallying speeches, the group will traverse the mall along sidewalks chalked with slogans and support for victims en route to College Hall. The formal activities will conclude at the Campus Rock, which will be painted teal in support of Sexual Assault Awareness Month.
