Quaker Heritage Center
Application Period for AmeriCorps Member Runs through Mid-August The Ohio History Service Corps selected The Meriam R. Hare Quaker Heritage Center at Wilmington College as a host site for an AmeriCorps member that will work at promoting and preserving Ohio history. The QHC will host one of 14 AmeriCorps members who will conduct this work across the state. It is the fourth time the College has been a host site since 2010, as previous projects have included work on the Reflection in Time Civil War event in downtown Wilmington in 2013 and special historical programming for local fourth grade students in 2012 and 2013, as well as developing exhibits, training volunteers and other planning history-related events. The application process seeking college graduates in areas such as history, education, museum studies and library science will continue through mid-August. Information is available on the Quaker Heritage Center’s page on WC’s Website. Members will serve from Sept. 2016 through August 2017. The position comes with a living stipend, health insurance, a possible educational award and other benefits. The Ohio History Connection created the Ohio History Service Corps to help local organizations put history to work in their communities. AmeriCorps members will receive training in areas such as volunteer management, fundraising, collections digitalization, community mapping, historic preservation and heritage tourism/community based economic development.
