Leppert-Wahl, assistant professor of political science, has been on the College faculty since 1998. She earned her bachelor’s and master’s degrees, and a Ph.D. from the University of Cincinnati, in addition to a Master of Arts degree from George Washington University.

Dr. Erika Goodwin, vice president for academic affairs and dean of the faculty, accompanied her at the luncheon. She praised Leppert-Wahl for making students “her highest priority.”

“Marlaina works incredibly hard to bring the world to her students,” she said, noting that her interest in outside-the-classroom learning experiences might include taking students to a synagogue or mosque in Cincinnati or share Middle Eastern food. “She consistently pushes students toward new experiences.

“Marlaina also gives students all the individual attention they need — whether it is help on a writing assignment or preparing for a test, or coming to work early or staying late,” she added.

Leppert-Wahl was honored along with award recipients from the GC3’s 16 other member institutions. The GC3, formerly known as the Greater Cincinnati Consortium of College & Universities, advocates for higher education and uses the collective strength of its institutional members to positively influence the value of higher learning in the greater Cincinnati region. It also promotes professional development and opportunities for collaborative learning to advance the effectiveness of all members.
