Grad Fair Initiates Countdown to Commencement

Graduating Seniors Prepare for Their Big Day With last week’s Spring Break now in the rearview mirror, members of the Class of 2019 felt the realization that their time as Wilmington College students is quickly coming to an end with today’s (March 19) Grad Fair. Picking up Commencement tickets, along with their caps and gowns, served to served to impress upon them that May 11 is on the near horizon. Senior Hanna Greaney saw the symbolism of the event. “It doesn’t seem real that it’s my graduation coming in May,” she said. “I don’t think it will really hit me until the day I leave campus.” Grad Fair is held annually in preparation for the College’s May Commencement. Graduating seniors had an opportunity to not only pick up their Commencement tickets and caps and gowns, but also order graduation announcements and a class ring, and have professional photos taken holding a dark green, albeit empty, diploma cover, Also, the soon-to-be graduates were reminded there are still several career development events in the coming weeks: career fairs, a “Dress for Success” program and opportunities to produce more impressive resumes. In addition, the Grad Fair featured information on student loan exit counseling and the Office of Alumni Engagement promoted the Senior Class Gift and annual Zero-Year Reunion, which is an informal gathering of graduating seniors the Thursday before Commencement.
