Hands-On Learning Project Mirrors Emily Harman's Interest in Horticulture Wilmington College's Emily Harman is an agriculture student majoring in agronomy with an interest in greenhouse horticulture, so agriculture professor Monte Anderson gave the junior from Versailles the hands-on learning opportunity to produce 200 poinsettias. (PICTURED) Emily Harman inspects a plant among the sea of poinsettias she's grown this fall. “Emily has taken advantage of this experience that aligns closely with her interest in horticulture,” Anderson said, noting she’s done an “excellent job” in caring for these plants from seedlings to maturity, while also heading its marketing and distribution. The fruit of her labor is obvious this month as the College greenhouse is literally a sea of red. The plants are being used to decorate areas of campus.
