Event Will Feature Alumni and Others Engaged in Successful Accounting Careers

Prospective college students will have an opportunity to learn about accounting careers and Wilmington College’s program from an assortment of current students, faculty members and professionals in the industry.

Accounting Career Day will be held Nov. 1, from 8:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m., on WC’s campus. Registration information is available at

Wilmington College’s accounting major provides a broad-based education that exposes students to essential principles and concepts that can readily be applied to one’s career, according to Allen Beatty, assistant professor of accounting.

Guest speakers include Jessica Beam DeBold, a WC alumna and senior financial planner/manager of the Wilmington office for Buckingham Financial Group; Elizabeth M. Esarey, a certified public accountant (CPA) for Buckingham Financial Group; and Patti Herron from the local CPA firm of Wagenseller, Foley, Hollingsworth & Co.

Keynote speaker will be WC alumnus Edmund Besong, who holds a Jurist Doctorate/Master of Accounting-Tax from Ohio Northern University. He went on to pass his CPA and New York Bar exams. Upon moving to New York City, Besong worked briefly at Goldman Sachs in their internal tax division before joining the tax team at the firm Alvarez and Marsal.

At Wilmington College, Besong majored in accounting and marketing with a minor in economics. He was a member of the men’s soccer team, served as a resident assistant and was elected president of Student Government Assn. His senior year, he received the College’s highest student honor, the Robert E. Lucas Outstanding Student Leadership Award.
