Sylvia Stevens moved to Cincinnati from Kansas City in 2003 to serve as the first director of Wilmington College’s degree completion program at Cincinnati State Technical and Community College. From 2005-2007 she was the director of the College’s Eastgate campus and also assistant dean for the External Programs. After the Tri-County and Eastgate campuses were consolidated into one location at Blue Ash, Sylvia became the associate vice president for External Programs and in 2015 the vice president for External Programs. During her years at Wilmington College, Sylvia has taught various classes at the Cincinnati branch locations, including Global Issues and Awareness, International Business, Managing Creativity, Business Composition, Society and Business, and Diversity and Inclusion in the Workplace (a course she teaches with her colleague Bernie Matt). Students have nominated Sylvia for the Outstanding Faculty Award numerous times and she has won the award twice.
In her other life and before coming to Wilmington College, Sylvia was an assistant professor of German at the University of Missouri-Kansas City. She has her MBA from the University of Missouri-Kansas City, her Ph.D. in German from Yale University, and her B.A. in German from the Pennsylvania State University. She has several published translations of German texts.
