Daryl Nash

Daryl is an Assistant Professor of Animal Science & Production Management in the Agriculture Department at Wilmington College.  He teaches multiple courses in animal science, computer applications in agriculture, agricultural business, and agricultural issues.  Daryl serves as Academic Advisor to many Agriculture students.  He supervises students who are conducting animal science and agricultural education research projects.  Daryl also coaches the Wilmington College Dairy Challenge team and is Advisor to the Wilmington College Aggies & Collegiate 4-H.

Prior to joining the faculty at Wilmington College, Daryl assisted with the operation of his family farm.  Previously, Daryl taught animal science, agricultural business, agricultural issues, computer applications in agriculture, and biology courses at a small private college in Virginia.

Daryl is active in the communities he has lived in.  He was Treasurer of the Franklin County (Virginia) Cattlemen's Association.  Daryl has also served in Lions for several years.  He was President of a Lions Club in Virginia, and a member of the Cabinet for several District Governors in District 24-E of the Lions of Virginia.  Daryl is currently a member of the Wilmington Lions Club.

Daryl was raised on dairy farms in Ohio and Wisconsin.  He is a graduate of Neillsville (Wisconsin) High School.  Daryl received his Bachelor of Science degree in Agriculture with a concentration in Agricultural Business from Wilmington College.  While a student at Wilmington College, Daryl was Manager of the men’s basketball team.  Daryl completed a M.S. and Ph.D. in the Department of Animal Science at Penn State.  During his Ph.D. studies, he also took classes and conducted research at the University of Wisconsin.  His M.S. thesis focused on the optimization of AI dairy bull selection.  Daryl’s Ph.D. dissertation focused on the genetics of mastitis resistance in dairy cattle.  As a post-doctoral research associate at Iowa State University, Daryl conducted research on the genetics of disease resistance in dairy cattle.

Daryl is an avid supporter of Wilmington College athletics.  He also enjoys listening to bluegrass music, reading, collecting toy farm machinery, and talking antique tractors.  Daryl resides in Wilmington and spends his summers at the family farm near Utica, Ohio.
