In 1977, she arrived in Wilmington, Ohio. Since coming to Wilmington College, Lois has designed more than 125 set and lighting designs. In 1993, she founded Clinton County Kids & Company, a non-profit arts program for area children and teens. She is currently the managing director for the organization and has been teaching theatre at Wilmington College for 37 years. Lois directs many of the children’s plays and also serves as the set and lighting designer. Kids & Company is preparing for its 22nd season next summer.
She attended Southern Illinois University at Edwardsville and completed her B.A. with a triple major in theatre, art, and mass communications. She headed off to Illinois State University with a graduate assistantship and completed her M.S. and M.F.A. in 3 years in Set and Lighting Design. In Chicago, at a job placement fair, she met Hugh G. Heiland, from Wilmington College, and he offered her a job on the spot.
