Deanna Vatan

Assoc. VP of Retention & Student Success,
Academic Affairs

Deanna Vatan’s career journey has had her traversing the higher education landscape at both public and private, small and large institutions in Ohio and New York.  She comes to Wilmington College after having served as Assistant Dean of Student Life at Mercy College of Ohio, a Catholic institution focused on healthcare programs located in Toledo, Ohio. During her time at Mercy College of Ohio, she was responsible for new student programs, leadership programs, campus activities, and student government. Additionally, she supervised the Office of Campus Ministry and Service Learning, served on the HLC steering committee for Criterion Four, and held leadership roles for the institution’s CARE Team, as well as co-curricular assessment, college assessment, and institutional effectiveness committees.

Woven throughout the roles she has held and the initiatives she has led are the concepts of the servant leadership model. Deanna’s focus is on the power of collaboration, communication, and positivity, as well as on the growth and well-being of the people in her life and the communities in which she has lived.

Deanna, a native of Bowling Green, Ohio, earned her bachelors’ degrees at Bowling Green State University in Latin Education and Political Science and a master’s degree in Education from Pace University. She is completing her first year at the University of Kentucky in the Ed.D. in Educational Leadership program. When she isn’t working, studying, or spending time with family and friends, Deanna can usually be found on the golf course or in the kitchen baking.
