WC Sending Four Equestrians to Regionals

Meet Kelsey Stone, Allison Flora, Kalynn Gillum and Brianna Akam Four members of Wilmington College’s equestrian team will compete in the Western class of the Intercollegiate Horse Show Association’s regional competition this weekend at Ohio State University. Our equestrian teams had a really great year and these four competitors will represent Wilmington College at the next level of showmanship, the Regionals. said Bethany Siehr, assistant professor of equine business management. The entire team and equine program wish them the best of luck.
Stone is a senior from Middletown majoring in psychology.
My riding career began with the IHSA in 2014 as a beginner rider. Stone said. In 2015 I took Regional Champion and was a Semi-Finals finalist taking seventh place. This will be my final season with WCET, but I will be continuing on in the IHSA with Tiffin University as their equestrian team manager next fall.
Flora is a junior from St. Paris majoring in equine business management.
I showed horses competitively through 4H and AQHA for 13 years prior to college,” Flora said. “Once I came to Wilmington College, I joined IHSA where I've earned Hunt Seat Rider-of-the-Year and have qualified for regionals in the advanced division on the Western team.
Gillum is a senior majoring in equine business management.
I have been riding horses since I was eight years old and have been on the equine team since my freshman year. Gillum said. I started in the intermediate 2 division and am going to Regionals for intermediate 2.
Akam is a senior from Nashville, Ohio, majoring in equine business management.
IHSA was a completely new experience for me, as I had never shown horses before, but this experience has made me such a better rider. Akam said. I am glad that I chose to ride for the team and I'm excited to compete at Regionals this weekend.
