Sydney Hux: ‘I Became a Strong Independent Woman at WC’

SENIOR SALUTES Honor Wilmington College's Graduating Seniors Graduating senior Sydney Hux looks forward to this fall when the agriculture/animal science major from Mechanicsburg, Ohio, starts in the veterinary technology program at Kent State University — Tuscarawas. PICTURED: Sydney Hux In looking back on her time at WC, Sydney quickly points to her involvement in Greek Life, a member of Psi Beta Omega sorority, as being a centerpiece of her Wilmington College experience. "I met both my best friend and boyfriend through Greek Life," she said. "I had no aspirations to be Greek when I came to College. I joined my first semester, developed a passion for leadership and ended up holding the position of Omegas' president." Sydney also was active as a leader with New Student Orientation and as a member of SLEB (Student Leader Executive Board). "I was a shy quiet girl when I came to WC," she said. "Now I am a strong independent woman because of the organizations I was a part of." She encourages underclassmen and future students to see attending Wilmington College as an opportunity for personal transformation. "Get involved and get outside your comfort zone," Sydney added. "Our campus is small, so your time here will be what you make of it."   SENIOR SALUTES are the result of Wilmington College's graduating seniors completing an online survey requesting them to look back on their time at WC and share favorite memories, especially meaningful events/relationships and how their time at the College has impacted them.
