New Officers Making Debut at October Board of Trustees Meeting

Alumna Peggy Sturdivant Assumes Board Chair Position The fall meetings of Wilmington College’s Board of Trustees, Oct. 19 and 20, will mark a changing of the guard in leadership of the institution’s governing body as a new set of officers and committee chairs assume office. PICTURED: President Jim Reynolds confers with Peggy Sturdivant during the Board of Trustees' summer meeting in July. WC alumna Peggy Roads Sturdivant is taking on the position of Board chair — the second woman in the College’s 148-year history — in succeeding Robert Touchton, who held that leadership position for the past six years. Vice-chair is another alumnus, Richard Sidwell, with Shannon Isaacs serving as secretary, William Peelle as treasurer and alumnus William Shoecraft as assistant secretary. President Jim Reynolds praised the new leadership team as “extremely capable and dedicated” to seeing the College fulfill its mission in higher education. “Each of these individuals possesses valuable career and life experiences that will serve the College well through their leadership and wise counsel,” he said. “Peggy, Rich, Shannon, Bill and William, along with the new committee chairs, all have shown remarkable commitment to the institution’s core values and ideals as a student-focused institution. I look forward to continue working closely with all of them.” New committee chairs are: Sidwell, Trusteeship; Douglass McDonald, Academic Affairs; Tim Buren, Buildings and Grounds; Tyrone Taylor, Advancement; Alan Frankel, Enrollment Management; Renee LaPine, Student Affairs; and William Kerns, Finance and Audit;
