Kameron Rinehart: ‘WC Helped Me Grow as a Leader’

SENIOR SALUTES Honor Wilmington College's Graduating Seniors Graduating senior Kameron Rinehart looks back on his time at Wilmington College with an even greater appreciation for the role of leaders and the impact they can have in making organizations aspire toward excellence and in helping individuals achieve their potential. He cited three areas of involvement as having the greatest effect on the nonacademic component of his WC experience: residence life, student government and his fraternity. "While serving as an RA, I was able to truly make an impact on the lives of many first-time college students — I never thought I’d have the chance to do that. It’s something I’ll always hold close to my heart, as those students continue to grow and lead," said Kameron, an agricultural business major from Jeffersonville, Ohio. The president of Student Government Assn. during his senior year, Kameron noted that, "Through various activities, I have been challenged several times from other students as to if the right decisions were being made. That helped me grow as a leader because I had to make sure the decisions were positively impacting the entire campus." Kameron holds two offices with his fraternity, Lambda Chi Alpha. A favorite memory is traveling abroad to Costa Rica with Professor Corey Cockerill. "This trip is a once in a lifetime opportunity, and we got to learn so much while aboard," he said. "It was a trip I’ll never forget — I was blessed to spend it with so many amazing friends!" Kameron will be attending The Ohio State University this fall to pursue a master's degree in agricultural communications, education and leadership as a graduate assistant. As a student leader who's left an especially positive impact on his College, Kameron offers advice to those future seniors: "Step outside of your comfort zone and try new things. Get comfortable with being uncomfortable," he said. "You won’t regret getting involved at WC! SENIOR SALUTES are the result of Wilmington College's graduating seniors completing an online survey requesting them to look back on their time at WC and share favorite memories, especially meaningful events/relationships and how their time at the College has impacted them.
