College’s Equine Judging Team Has ‘Great Run’ at Quarter Horse Congress

Jaclyn Eisenschmidt Wins Overall Reserve Championship Wilmington College's equine judging team enjoyed a "great run" at the All-American Quarter Horse Congress that included Jaclyn Eisenschmidt winning the overall reserve championship in the Limited Collegiate Division. NOT PICTURED: Myckala Geisler WC sent six students, four horses and a coach to the event at which WC also assisted with the Intercollegiate Equine Association competition for high school riders. The College also used the opportunity for student recruitment from the high school ranks. The Congress is the world's largest single-breed horse show with some 25,000 entries. Held at the Ohio Expo Center in Columbus, the show regularly attracts 650,000 people and generates more than $400 million in the central Ohio economy. Daren Wright, assistant professor of equine management and director of the Equine Program, praised the students for "greatly representing" the College while he also recognized the hands-on learning aspects of being part of such a world class experience as the Quarter Horse Congress. In making her way to the reserve championship, Eisenschmidt placed fourth in Overall Halter, third in Overall Performance and fifth in Overall Reasons - 5th for an overall second place. Other WC competitors included: Sydney Flory — Overall Halter 13th, Overall Performance 7th, Overall Reasons 8th and Individual Overall 7th; Stacey Miller — Overall Halter 19th, Overall Performance 6th, Overall Reasons 15th and Individual Overall 11th; Katelyn Abney — Overall Halter 20th, Overall Performance 4th, Overall Reasons 10th and Individual Overall 18th; Myckala Geisler — Overall Halter 18th, Overall Performance 12th, Overall Reasons 12th and Individual Overall 16th; Ethan Rinehart — Overall Halter 17th, Overall Performance 19th, Overall Reasons 16th and Individual Overall 19th.
