Chase Sears-Edinger: ‘I Never Thought I Would Be as Close to My Professors as I Am’

SENIOR SALUTES Honor Wilmington College’s Graduating Seniors 2020 graduate Chase Sears-Edinger looks back fondly on her time at Wilmington College as an experience for personal growth and meaningful experiences. The agriculture major from Clarksville, Ohio, recalled some advice she received from a faculty member when she was a freshman. PICTURED: Chase Sears-Edinger "One of my agriculture professors encouraged me to take every opportunity that came my way freshman year," she said. "He insisted that I would learn from them, even if I didn’t enjoy them. Having this attitude has taught me to find the positives in every situation." Chase knew she would make friends in College — she undoubtedly did — but was surprised by how meaningful her relationships with faculty members are as she reflects from the vantage point of being a new graduate. "At Wilmington College, professors truly care about each of their students and are willing to go the extra mile to make our College experience all that we want it to be," she said. "I never thought I would be as close to my professors as I am." Chase, who was active in Women in Agriculture and Delta Tau Alpha, has returned to Edinger Farms LLC, where she is focused on selling locally grown, farm-fresh, high-quality meat. As for advice to future seniors, Chase offers this: "Set goals for yourself and commit to achieving them. You can do great things if you are determined and work hard. You have every opportunity to learn and to grow while you're at Wilmington College, so take advantage of that." SENIOR SALUTES are the result of Wilmington College’s graduating seniors completing an online survey requesting them to look back on their time at WC and share favorite memories, especially meaningful events/relationships and how their time at the College has impacted them.
