Wilmington College is pleased to announce our commitment to the growth, expansion, and promotion of our newly emerging Athletic Band programs. This initiative is a result of both student interest in pursuing instrumental music activities and the College’s responsibility to continue promotion of the musical arts on our campus and in the Wilmington community.
The Wilmington College “Quaker Thunder” Pep Band is comprised of students and faculty from across various academic disciplines on campus. The band performs at several events throughout the academic year, including football games, basketball games, pep rallies, Homecoming events, and more! Membership is open to all students and faculty on campus that play a standard band instrument:
Many of these instruments are provided on a first come-first serve basis by Wilmington College or can be rented for the duration of the school year.
If you’re interested in joining one of the most exciting and fastest-growing student organizations on campus, please contact Stephen M. Wadsack (Pep Band Director) for more information!
All students who participate in the Pep Band course [MU 138/338] and regularly participate in scheduled performances are eligible to receive a Talent Award for their contribution to the College at athletic events. Many WC students are already benefiting from this award, and currently enrolling students are eligible as well!
To indicate your interest in participating in the Athletic Bands and have the opportunity to receive this award, please fill out our Pep Band Intent to Participate Form.
We are especially delighted to announce the debut of a Marching Band program, which is scheduled to ‘take the field’ in conjunction with our 150th Anniversary as an institution of higher learning. This ensemble–the first in our school’s history–will serve as student ambassadors and representatives at various events throughout the academic year in cooperation with the other ensembles comprising our Athletic Band programs. Wilmington College is incredibly excited to offer this opportunity to our students, and we look forward to seeing how this unique group will benefit both the College and greater Wilmington community.
