Transfer Scholarships

2015 – 2016 Scholarship & Awards Program for Transfers


The following scholarships and awards are available to transfer students entering in the 2015 fall semester and 2016 spring semester at Wilmington College. Recipients must be full-time students on the main campus working towards their first bachelor’s degree. Scholarships and awards are renewable each year providing the student maintains eligibility requirements specific to the award.

Non-Need Based Awards

Non-need based awards are scholarships and grants that are awarded regardless of the student’s financial need.

PHI THETA KAPPA SCHOLARSHIP

  • $9,000 per year.
  • Qualifications: Must be a member of Phi Theta Kappa, 3.5 – 4.0 cumulative college grade point average and completion of 24 or more hours of transferrable college coursework.

TRANSFER HONOR SCHOLARSHIP 1

  • $8,000 per year.
  • Qualifications: 3.5 – 4.0 cumulative college grade point average and completion of 24 or more hours of transferrable college coursework.

TRANSFER HONOR SCHOLARSHIP 2

  • $7,000 per year.
  • Qualifications: 3.0 – 3.49 cumulative college grade point average and completion of 24 or more hours of transferrable college coursework.

TRANSFER HONOR SCHOLARSHIP 3

  • $6,000 per year.
  • Qualifications: 2.5 – 2.99 cumulative college grade point average and completion of 24 or more hours of transferrable college coursework.

TRANSFER ACHIEVEMENT GRANT

  • $2,000 per year.
  • Qualifications: 2.0 – 2.49 cumulative college grade point average and completion of 24 or more hours of transferrable college coursework.

PATHWAYS GRANT

  • $1,000 for the 2015-2016 academic year. Non renewable.
  • Student must be accepted to the College and have visited campus via an individual visit or visit program through the Office of Admission or an athletic recruiting event by March 1, 2015.
  • The Pathways Grant is only awarded to students entering in the Fall semester.

Need-Based Awards

Need-based awards are determined when the financial aid package is prepared. A FAFSA is required to be considered for any of the need-based awards below. If the student has financial need remaining after all federal, state and institutional non need-based awards are applied, the student will be considered for the following combination of need-based awards up to $3000. In addition, the student must meet the requirements for the award.

QUAKER AWARD

  • Award amount: Up to $1,000.
  • Award Application deadline: January 15, 2015. Award application may be obtained from the Office of Admission.
  • Student must be an active member of a Monthly Meeting or a graduate from a Quaker high school.
  • Recommendation from the Clerk or Pastor must accompany the scholarship application.

LEGACY AWARD

  • Award Amount: Up to $1,000.
  • Student’s parent, step-parent, sibling or grandparent must be a graduate of WC ~ or ~ sibling, parent, step-parent or spouse must be attending Wilmington College full-time during the 2015-2016 academic year.
  • Information regarding the Legacy relationship must be included on the Application for Admission.

MULTI-CULTURAL AWARD

  • Award Amount: Up to $1,000.
  • Available to students of traditional under-represented populations. Qualifying ethnicity must be included on the Application for Admission.

GATEWAY GRANT

  • Award Amount: Up to $1,000.
  • Available to any US Citizen whose legal residence is not Ohio.

The College reserves the right to review, adjust, or cancel awards at any time as a result of changes in stated tuition, a student’s or student’s family financial situation, academic status, full or part time status, housing, veteran’s benefits or a student’s conduct.
