Transfer Student Financial Aid & Scholarships

Once you have filled out the application make sure to file the FAFSA. Visit www.fafsa.gov to complete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid. Include our school code, 003142. Once you have been accepted to Wilmington College we will process your FAFSA and prepare a financial aid award. Transfer Scholarships & Awards Program 2018-2019

The following scholarships and awards are available to transfer students entering in the 2018 fall semester and 2019 spring semester at Wilmington College.  Recipients must be full-time students on the main campus working towards their first bachelor’s degree.  Scholarships and awards are reviewed annually and renewed for the term of the award providing the student is in academic good standing and maintains eligibility requirements specific to the award. Further, Wilmington College may withdraw these awards if there is a Level I or Level II violation of the Student Code of Conduct.

Wilmington College Academic Awards for Transfer Students

Phi Theta Kappa Scholarship

  • Available for Fall 2018 and Spring 2019 entry.
  • $12,500 per year
  • Qualifications:  Must be a member of Phi Theta Kappa, 3.5 – 4.0 cumulative college grade point average and completion of 12 or more hours of transferable college coursework.
  • Awarded upon acceptance to the College.
  • May be combined with the Heritage Awards and the Awards of Circumstance.
  • Available regardless of need.

Transfer Honor Scholarship 1

  • Available for Fall 2018 and Spring 2019 entry.
  • $12,000 per year
  • Qualifications: 3.5 – 4.0 cumulative college grade point average and completion of 12 or more hours of transferable college coursework.
  • Awarded upon acceptance to the College.
  • May be combined with the Heritage Awards and the Awards of Circumstance.
  • Available regardless of need.

Transfer Honor Scholarship 2

  • Available for Fall 2018 and Spring 2019 entry.
  • $11,000 per year
  • Qualifications: 3.0 – 3.49 cumulative college grade point average and completion of 12 or more hours of transferable college coursework.
  • Awarded upon acceptance to the College.
  • May be combined with the Heritage Awards and the Awards of Circumstance.
  • Available regardless of need. 

Transfer Honor Scholarship 3

  • Available for Fall 2018 and Spring 2019 entry.
  • $9,500 per year
  • Qualifications: 2.5 – 2.99 cumulative college grade point average and completion of 12 or more hours of transferable college coursework.
  • Awarded upon acceptance to the College.
  • May be combined with the Heritage Awards and the Awards of Circumstance.
  • Available regardless of need. 

Transfer Achievement Grant

  • Available for Fall 2018 and Spring 2019 entry.
  • $5,000 per year
  • Qualifications: 2.0 – 2.49 cumulative college grade point average and completion of 12 or more hours of transferable college coursework.
  • Awarded upon acceptance to the College.
  • May be combined with the Heritage Awards and the Awards of Circumstance.
  • Available regardless of need.

Wilmington College Heritage Awards

Friends Award

  • Available for Fall 2018 and Spring 2019 entry.
  • $2,500 per year
  • Applicants must be accepted to the College by February 15, 2017.
  • Scholarship application deadline: March 1, 2017. The scholarship application is available at wilmington.edu or by calling the Office of Admission.
  • The student must be an active member of a Monthly Meeting or a graduate from a Quaker high school.
  • Recommendation from the Clerk or Pastor is required to apply for this award.  The recommendation letter should be submitted to the Office of Admission no later than March 1, 2017.
  • May be combined with other Heritage Awards, Awards of Circumstance, Academic Achievement Scholarship and Recognition Award.
  • Available regardless of need.

Legacy Award

  • Available for Fall 2018 and Spring 2019 entry
  • $2,500 per year
  • Student’s parent, step-parent, grandparent, great grandparent or sibling must be a graduate of WC or sibling must be attending Wilmington College in the current academic year.
  • May be combined with other Heritage Awards, Awards of Circumstance, Academic Achievement Scholarship and Recognition Award.
  • Available regardless of need

Wilmington College Multicultural Award

  • Available for Fall 2018 and Spring 2019 entry
  • $2,000 per year
  • Awarded at the time of admission to traditionally under-represented populations.  Qualifying ethnicity must be included on the Application for Admission at the time of submission.
  • May be combined with the Heritage Awards, Awards of Circumstance, Academic Achievement Scholarship and Recognition Award.
  • Available regardless of need.

Wilmington College Awards of Circumstance 

Pathways Grant

  • Available for Fall 2018 and Spring 2019 entry
  • $500 per year
  • Must be accepted to the College and have visited campus via a recruiting event by May 1, 2018.
  • May be combined with the Heritage Awards, other Awards of Circumstance, Academic Achievement Scholarship and Recognition Award.
  • Available regardless of need. 

Gateway Grant

  • Available for Fall 2018 and Spring 2019 entry
  • $2,500 per year
  • Awarded at the time of admission.
  • Available to students whose state of legal residence is not Ohio as of July 1, 2017.
  • May be combined with Heritage Awards, other Awards of Circumstance, Academic Achievement Scholarship and Recognition Award.
  • Available regardless of need.

Wilmington College Talent Awards

Talent awards are available to students who have been active in the performing arts or who are active in the equine field. Once enrolled at Wilmington College, award recipients must continue to be active participants in their chosen area.   

Performing Arts Talent Award

Scholarship Details

  • Available for Fall 2018 entry.
  • $1,000 per year.
  • Offered to students who demonstrate exceptional talent in the areas of Performing Arts (acting, singing, dancing, musical performance [vocal and instrumental] or technical design and management).
  • Entering cumulative grade point average of 2.5 – 4.0 and ACT composite score 18-36
  • Awarded on basis of merit and demonstrated talent. Students are required to initially interview and/or audition or submit a portfolio in their area of interest.
  • Applicants must be accepted to the College no later than February 15, 2018.
  • Scholarship Application must be received in the Office of Admission no later than March 1, 2018.
  • May be combined with the Heritage Awards, Awards of Circumstance, Academic Achievement Scholarship and Recognition Award.
  • Talent Award recipients are selected by the faculty in the area of Fine Arts.
  • Renewable based on the following criteria:
    • Evidence of participation and commitment in area of interest—Theatre, Music and /or Technical Performances
    • Service to Fine Arts Area

Competition Activities

  • Recommendation letter from a teacher, drama director, music or dance instructor submitted the day of the audition.
  • Resume of experience submitted with Scholarship Application.
  • Personal Interview or audition with Fine Arts Faculty: all applicants will have an individual interview. Students may prepare a monologue, vocal song selection or instrumental performance that showcases their strengths. Please bring sheet music in the correct key. No a capella singing, please.
  • If interested in Technical Design or Management students are encouraged to bring a portfolio of examples of artistic or technical work (photos, drawings, etc.) 

IHSA Equestrian Team Talent Award

Scholarship Details

  • Available for Fall 2018 entry.
  • $1,000 per year
  • Offered to students who demonstrate exceptional talent in the areas of Western Horsemanship or Hunt Seat Equitation in an IHSA environment.
  • Entering cumulative grade point average between 2.5 – 4.0 and ACT composite score 18-36.
  • Applicants must be accepted to the College no later than February 15, 2018.
  • Scholarship/Award application and riding video must be received in the Office of Admission no later than March 1, 2018.
  • May be combined with the Heritage Awards, Awards of Circumstance, Academic Achievement Scholarship and Recognition Award.
  • Awarded on the basis of merit and demonstrated talent.
  • Talent Award recipients are selected by the faculty and staff in the area of equine.
  • Renewable based on the following criteria:
    • Evidence of participation and commitment in area of interest – IHSA team Western Horsemanship or Hunt Seat Equitation
    • Service to Equine Center and Equestrian Team 

Competition Activities

  • 10-minute video of Western Horsemanship or Hunt Seat Equitation submitted with the Scholarship Application to the Office of Admission no later than January 15, 2018.
  • Resume of related experience submitted with the scholarship application.
  • Recommendation letter from the equine instructor or equine professional submitted the day of the competition.
  • Personal interview/audition with equine faculty if selected to compete.  You must come dressed in casual but proper riding attire according to the talent area of interest.  A helmet is required.  Wilmington College Equestrian Center will provide the horse and tack for the interview/audition.
