Topics in Professional Writing: Business Writing

TTH 9:40-11:10 a.m.

Instructor: Marcie Rovan

Writing for college classes is different from writing for the workplace. In this course, we will advance on the writing skills students have developed in EN 101 and apply them to a new genre, business writing. EN 252 is designed to help students develop the principles for effective writing in the workplace. The course will address questions of audience and purpose, organization, formatting, and visual design. We will learn how to communicate efficiently in developing a variety of business writing tasks such as emails, proposals, presentations, recommendations, performance reviews, and cover letters. Students will engage in both independent and collaborative writing tasks.

This course is hybrid, which means that students will attend physically one day each week and attend virtually via Zoom on the other scheduled class day.
