MWF 12:40 to 1:40 p.m.
Instructor: Laura Struve
In the last 200 years, Britain has undergone huge changes–from an agrarian society and economy to an industrial one, from having the world’s largest empire to a post-colonial reality, and from a society that politically excluded the poor, women, and religious minorities to a more inclusive democracy. We will explore literature in light of these conflicts, as well as the changes caused by modern warfare and technology. We will also read some of the most beautiful poetry about nature and the saddest poetry about war ever written. This class is writing intensive, counts for global credit, and general education in the Humanities. This is a hybrid-traditional class, so this class will be partially face to face and partially online. You also won’t have to pay ANY money for books for this class! If you have questions or concerns about the format, please email me at firstname.lastname@example.org, and I will be happy to answer you.
