Six different players scored for Wilmington in the Lady Quakers’ 12-6 loss to Baldwin-Wallace Sunday in non-conference action in Williams Stadium.

“By far this was the best team effort we had all season with contributions coming from several players,” said head coach Brett Yenger.

Rachel Gutowski (Petoskey, MI/Petoskey) scored a goal with one assist, while Sarah Watters (Cincinnati, OH/Turpin), Sammy Koerner (Fairfield, OH/Hamilton Badin), Kelli Jo Haley (Wilmington, OH/Wilmington), Angela Phillips (Dayton, OH/Northmont) and Katelyn Straley (Clarksville, OH/Wilmington) tallied markers for the Lady Quakers.

Baldwin Wallace jumped out to a 5-0 lead early in the first half before Wilmington could get on the board with goals from Gutowski and Koerner.

Karalyne Brown put in another solid day in goal with 14 saves as Wilmington matched Baldwin Wallace in the shots department with 28 each.

“We need to work on our stick protection to keep us competitive on the scoreboard,” said Yenger. “It is a basic fundamental we need to work on.”

The Quakers had a rough second half with three goals taken away on the offensive end, but showed signs of improvement.

“We had the ball and possession in the offensive end a bit more and had better overall offensive sets, but need to improve upon better shot selection,” said Yenger. “I'm excited about every game getting closer on the scoreboard as we are getting better in every game.”

The Quakers continue to search for their first win when they visit DePauw in Greencastle, IN 3 p.m. Wednesday.
