BEREA, OH - Baldwin-Wallace scored 10 of the first 12 points, and the Wilmington women's basketball team never recovered as the Lady Quakers fell to BW, 75-62, Saturday at the Ursprung Gymnasium in Ohio Athletic Conference action.

The WC deficit eventually grew to as much as 19 before the Lady Quakers made a run to get within single digits before the half.

"We got off to a slow start and they got off to a fast start," said Wilmington head coach Jerry Scheve. "They made a lot of shots and we didn't defend well. What I liked is we stayed with it. We didn't panic, we just played better and slowly chipped away."

Five different players scored in the half-ending 15-6 spurt in trimming their 19-point hole down to just nine points.
With the second-half deficit hovering around the nine points, Wilmington made one last charge. The Lady Quakers forced four turnovers during their 8-0 run that pulled them to within four points with 7:19 remaining.

Baldwin-Wallace answered with a three-pointer and a three-point play to push its lead quickly back to 10. Wilmington trimmed it down to seven points on several different occassions, but couldn't get any closer.

The Lady Quakers recorded 17 offensive rebounds, 45 overall, but only shot 29 percent from the field.

"At times we went to the offensive boards well," said Scheve. "We have to do more with the rebounds. We missed way too many close in shots."

Senior Brianna Peters (Alexandria, KY/Campbell County) recorded her second double-double of the season, and seventh of her career, with a career-high 19 points and 10 rebounds.

"She has worked hard to get to where she is right now," said Scheve. "She is finally understanding what kind of player she can be and the type of player we need her to be."

Senior LeAnn Topp (New Bremen, OH/New Bremen) tallied 10 points and 10 rebounds for her second double-double of the season, and third of her career. Sophomore Spencer Robles (Clyde, OH/Clyde) added 10 points, while junior Haley Howard (Uhrichsville, OH/New Philadelphia) had a team-high four assists.

Wilmington (6-4 overall, 2-1 OAC) returns to Hermann Court 7:30 p.m. Wednesday to meet Capital.
