Lady Quakers Win Beijing Opener
May 07, 2012
BEIJING, China — The Lady Quakers opened their playing tour of China with an 86-31 win over Beijing Agricultural University.
Wilmington came out red-hot and took a 51-15 lead after the first quarter.
Thirteen players scored for Wilmington, with Shelby Kies leading the way with 13 points.
LeAnn Topp and Haley Howard scored 12 apiece.
“We played hard and shot the ball well,” Wilmington head coach Jerry Scheve said. “We did a nice job of pushing the ball.
“Considering that we arrived in China just 15 hours before the game, I was really happy with how we played. It was a good first game for us, but the competition will be much tougher in our next three games.”
