Supplemental Instruction (SI): Robinson 108
Coordinator: Carol Mercer
Hours: Varied
Traditionally difficult courses for students are targeted for Supplemental Instruction (SI). SI is a student-centered study program that supplements and reviews the content of selected courses. Model students serve as SI leaders in such courses as American History, Accounting, Economics, and Chemistry.
SI leaders have previously taken the SI courses, but they attend classes a second or third time so that they can assist students in weekly small group study sessions. During the SI meetings students review study strategies such as notetaking and test taking appropriate for learning content of the SI course. SI is one of the Student Resource Center's most popular programs. A recent questionnaire shows that 70% of the students surveyed attend SI sessions.
