Drivers Fore Survivors Golf Outing to Continue in Lloyd's Memory
Event Planned for Late September
June 23, 2008
Drivers Fore Survivors is a fundraising golf outing organized three years ago by Ben "Lloyd" Montgomery to raise money and awareness for pediatric brain cancer.
This insideous dissease first afflicted him as a 10-year-old and finally took his life after a courageous battle at 27 years of age on April 12, 2008, the evening of this year's Founders Night. Sigma Zeta members in attendance will recall the almost surreal atmosphere at the event.
Ben's family and friends are dedicated to keeping his legacy alive by donating this year's Drivers Fore Survivors proceeds to Nationwide Children's Hospital.
"Lloyd" was a special member of Sigma Zeta fraternity. Members from his era (2000-2005) and others remember his battling back after several surgeries and subsequent chemo/radiation therapies to keep the cancer at bay. More than that we recall his indomitable spirit and how he wished to live life to its fullest.
Please check out the PDF files posted below. They include an article about Lloyd that appeared in the Columbus Dispatch and information/registration materials for the Sept. 29 golf scramble and dinner.
