Frat Honored at Greek Awards Night

Adam Holbrook Named 2007 'Greek Man of the Year'

June 17, 2007

While Sigma Zeta didn’t “three-peat” as Fraternity of the Year, it was recognized in a number of other areas at WC’s Greek Awards Night in April.

First of all, Sigma Zeta is the 2007 Greek Games Champion! Unfortunately the traveling trophy was allegedly “lost” by the Gobblers, who won in 2006.

Senior Adam Holbrook ’07 was named “Greek Man of the Year” as a result of his significant involvement in leadership positions as an active. He was president spring semester 2007 and previously served as vice president/treasurer, alumni representative, SGA representative, Greek Council representative and chaplain.

Both Adam and Edeal Velez ’07 received “Senior Service & Leadership Awards.”
Sigma Zeta won the Rock Challenge for the fifth consecutive year as the Greek organization with the highest percentage of alumni that gave to the College.

Once again this year, Sigma Zeta received the “Greek Excellence Academic Honor Award” for having a collective grade point average higher than the College’s gender average.

In other Greek organization news, a new fraternity, Lambda Chi, was given official status this spring after a successful probationary year. A national fraternity, it was paired with Phi Psi Sweethearts in Greek games events since Phi Psi fraternity is defunct. Also, a group of African-American students are looking into restarting the Iotas after some 10 years of dormancy.
